Hehmnat’s Mehta’s I Sold my Soul on eBay is published today. Mehta ‘sold his soul on ebay’ in exchange for visiting a variety of church services, spawning a positive, ongoing dialogue between atheists and believers.
The result is an easily readable book – Mehta comes across as naïve and ingenuous and his lack of heavy critical engagement does just about work.
The book is ostensibly aimed at Christians (it’s released through a Christian publisher) who want to be more attractive to newcomers. But his formula of niceness towards non-Christians, doing more for the wider community and engaging with alternative views, is really a recipe for a more positive and rational version of Christianity.
